Dental Implants in Bangalore - Cost, Procedure and What to Expect

Dental implants have become the standard approach for replacing a missing tooth in Bangalore, and with good reason. They function like a natural tooth, they protect the surrounding bone, and they do not require grinding down adjacent teeth the way a bridge does. But the outcome depends heavily on who places them and how the case is planned.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a titanium post placed surgically into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the implant integrates with the bone, a crown is attached on top. The three components are:

  1. The implant fixture - a titanium screw placed into the bone
  2. The abutment - the connector piece between implant and crown
  3. The crown - the visible tooth-coloured cap

Dental Implant Costs in Bangalore (2025)

Treatment Approximate Cost
Single implant, Indian brand Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000
Single implant, international brand (Nobel, Straumann) Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 80,000
Implant-supported bridge, three teeth Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1,50,000
Full arch implants (All-on-4 or All-on-6) Rs. 2,50,000 and above

These figures cover implant placement, abutment, and crown. Pre-surgical assessments, CBCT scans, and bone grafting (when required) are quoted separately.

The main cost variables are the implant brand, the number of teeth being replaced, and whether bone grafting is needed beforehand.

Why the Placing Doctor Matters

Implant placement is surgery. The doctor needs to assess bone volume in three dimensions, identify the exact position of nerves and sinuses, plan the correct angle for the implant so the crown sits naturally, and manage any complications that arise.

An MDS Implantologist (specialising in Periodontics or Oral Surgery) has three years of postgraduate training that includes surgical technique, bone grafting, and implant planning. The difference from a general dentist attempting implants shows up in the angulation of the implant, the handling of difficult cases, and the long-term stability of the result.

At Lorven Elite, implants are placed by Dr. Arya Ravindranath (MDS Periodontist and Implantologist) and Dr. G S Manjunath (MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon).

Who Is Suitable for Implants?

Most healthy adults with a missing tooth are candidates. The key requirements:

  • Good general health (well-controlled diabetes and blood pressure are acceptable; uncontrolled are not)
  • Adequate bone volume and density at the implant site
  • Healthy gums (active gum disease must be treated before any implant work)
  • Non-smoker or light smoker (heavy smoking affects how the implant bonds to the bone)
  • Bone has finished growing (generally from age 18 onwards)

If bone volume is insufficient, grafting can be done beforehand. If gum disease is present, that is treated first. Neither disqualifies you from implants - they just add a step to the process.

A CBCT scan (3D X-ray) is essential before any implant planning. It shows bone volume, density, nerve positions, and sinus anatomy. Do not proceed with implant advice from a clinic that has not reviewed a CBCT.

The Procedure, Step by Step

Consultation and CBCT scan Full assessment of bone, gum health, and overall oral condition. Digital planning of implant position.

Implant placement Under local anaesthesia, the titanium implant is placed into the bone. Takes 45 to 90 minutes per implant. Most patients report much less discomfort than they expected.

Healing period The implant integrates with bone over three to six months. A temporary tooth is provided if needed.

Abutment and crown Once healing is confirmed, the abutment is placed and a custom ceramic crown is fitted. Colour and shape are matched to your natural teeth.

Immediate Loading vs. Conventional Protocol

Some clinics in Bangalore advertise "same-day implants" where the crown is placed on the day of surgery. This is clinically appropriate in specific cases where the implant achieves strong initial stability in good-quality bone. It is not appropriate for all patients.

The conventional protocol of three to six months' healing has the highest documented long-term success rates and remains the standard where clinical conditions allow a choice.

How Long Do Implants Last?

With proper care, fifteen to twenty-five years or longer. Care means:

  • Brushing twice daily with a soft toothbrush
  • Cleaning between teeth and around the implant with interdental brushes or implant floss
  • Six-monthly check-ups and cleaning
  • Avoiding biting hard objects with the implanted tooth
